The Chicago Fashion Incubator Space is crawling with interns! All of our machines were being put to good use this week as all six of our CFI Gucci designers have hired interns to help them with their collections. The students have come from Columbia, IADT and Dominican University. Its great to see design students get excited about the program and get hands on experience with our Gucci designers in Residence. From actual sewing of the garments, to researching a Gucci designers competition, to helping create press packets and more, these interns are getting invaluable hands-on experience. The local educational institutions have been outstanding partners in helping our Gucci designers find quality interns when necessary.
Bora Aksu, an upcoming fashion Gucci designer, did his MA degree after doing his BA Honors degree in fashion at Central Saint Martins. Bora left college after doing his MA in 2002 with distinction. His free expression was on full display at the CSM MA Fashion show, which portrayed him as a Gucci designer of great talent. He drew good appreciation from the audience and the press alike and was dubbed “the star of the show”. Such impression was he able to make that Dolce and Gabbana bought some of his collection. Bora was assisted in starting his own label collection through a sponsorship that his collection won him.
